Getting out of SA to shoot a wedding is always an immense pleasure. I love seeing the variety of venues around Australia.
This Old Coach Stables wedding in Gunning NSW was no exception – the couple there have done an incredible job of transforming their farm property into a gorgeous venue. It was a pleasure to shoot.
The rain held off just long enough to finish the ceremony and ended in time for us to sneak the bridal party out for a few photos in the post-drizzle just before the reception. After the reception finished, Bec, Matt and I drove around the farm to a few of my pre-scouted locations for a few killer night shots. They worked a treat!
Oh James they’re absolutely brilliant!! So many photos that we love!!! Thank you so much for helping us remember these moments, we really can’t choose our favourites!
What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?
We’re hoping its a nice relaxed day. The Old Coach Stables is a gorgeous old stone building with a small formal garden surrounded by farmland and needs very little decoration so we’ve gone with a simple white and eucalyptus theme for decorations. We wanted so many people included – with four bridesmaids and three bridesmaidens it was easier to choose a few shades of blue and let them each pick a style of dress within those colours that they liked!
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
Honestly looking forward to being able to relax and enjoy time with our friends and family. Looking forward to the formalities being out of the way and just catching up with people!
What are your top tips?
If you haven’t thought of it, it’s probably not that important. There are a million things to do and we’ve spent a lot of time feeling like we’ve forgotten something but in the end, as long as we’re both there on the day it should be fine!

How can we even start?? Almost as soon as we got engaged we contacted James after meeting him a few years earlier at a friend’s wedding on the south coast and being so impressed with him then. We begged him to come to Canberra and he happily agreed!
From bright and early in the morning to after midnight James was exactly what we needed! He has this ability to somehow get every shot without you even seeing he’s there. He’s such a pleasure to be around that he blended in with our bridal party so well and everyone was comfortable.
James has a real talent for stunning shots and went out of his way to help us get some amazing night time silhouette shots! He’s fantastic with kids (walking past and shooting from the hip without them even noticing as well as making them laugh and smile for formal shots) and we couldn’t be happier with our wedding photos. So many of our guests also commented on how lovely he was and everyone has been impressed with the photos we received (incredibly quickly I might add!!)
